Privacy and support

Your cards belong to you
Decks, cards, tags and reviews are saved in the app’s local storage. Oboeteru contains no ads, audience analytics or advertising tracking. No Oboeteru account is required. Photos and scans are processed on your device and included in your library. The camera is used only when you choose to scan; no image is sent to an OCR service.
iCloud is your choice
Sync is off by default. If you enable it, your library and history are sent to your Apple account’s private CloudKit database. We cannot access the contents of this private database. Sync uses your iCloud storage and runs while the app is open. Apple operates iCloud under its own privacy terms. Enabling sync requires valid Plus access through a purchase or trial. When it expires, sync pauses without deleting local data or data already stored in iCloud; cards remain available to review, edit and export.
Backups and deletion
JSON exports contain your library and history, including items in the trash. Store these files appropriately. Deleting a card or deck inside the app is reversible and is not permanent erasure. To remove all data, clear Oboeteru’s local data on each device using the options provided by the system. For iCloud data, open your Apple Account’s iCloud storage settings and delete Oboeteru’s data if the app appears there and a deletion option is available. Options vary by device and system version. Turning off sync or deleting the app does not by itself remove data already stored in iCloud. Also delete any exported backups.
Support
To sync, use the same Apple account on your devices and open Oboeteru on each one. To import CSV or TSV, use a UTF-8 file with front and back in the first two columns. Direct import of .apkg files is not supported.
