Privacy and support

Your cards belong to you
Decks, cards, tags and reviews are saved in the app’s local storage. Oboeteru contains no ads, audience analytics or advertising tracking. No Oboeteru account is required. Photos and scans are processed on your device and included in your library. The camera is used only when you choose to scan; no image is sent to an OCR service.
iCloud is your choice
Sync is off by default. If you enable it, your library and history are sent to your Apple account’s private CloudKit database. We cannot access the contents of this private database. Sync uses your iCloud storage and runs while the app is open. Apple operates iCloud under its own privacy terms.
Backups and deletion
JSON exports contain your library and history, including items in the trash. Store these files appropriately. Deleting a card or deck inside the app is reversible and is not permanent erasure. To remove all data, delete the app’s local data and iCloud data through system settings, and delete any backups you exported. Turning off sync does not delete data already stored in iCloud.
Support
To sync, use the same Apple account on your devices and open Oboeteru on each one. To import CSV or TSV, use a UTF-8 file with front and back in the first two columns. Version 1.0 does not support .apkg files.
